College Success: Learn How to Learn

We've been looking at the things you can do to bring college success: working smarter, not harder; asking the right questions and knowing yourself well enough to choose a solid degree the first time. Today, we're going to look more specifically about how to be a successful learner regardless of your college choice:

  • traditional, brick and mortar campus
  • accelerated, distance learning
  • straight to the work force

Since most students are still choosing the traditional approach, this article will specifically address how even that path can be accelerated and maximized to help you go faster and save money by effectively managing your course load.

College Success: What Degree Is Right for You?

Last week, we introduced the idea of working smarter, not harder through college. If you missed the foundational ideas laid for this topic, take a look back. Today, we're going to look more specifically about asking the right questions.

Anyone considering, or already attempting, a college degree should be asking more specific questions than: Is there value in a college degree? None of us are exactly the same. One general answer, one general solution will never make sense for everyone. Ask the right questions to get the answers you need.

College Success: Work Smarter, Not Harder

There's a lot of talk today about the value of a college degree. And with every person contributing to the conversation, it seems like there are twice as many opinions and conclusions. There are plenty of statistics and stories supporting both sides of the argument as well. So, what is a person supposed to do?

The problem is that most people are asking the wrong questions, such as: Is there value in a college degree? If you answer yes, then you immediately find yourself on a particular path that goes something like this:

The Real Cost of College

On Friday, September 28th, the Wall Street Journal reported that a study released by the Pew Research Center...showed that 40% of households headed by someone younger than 35 years old have student debt.

Take a moment to think about what this actually means for the people behind these numbers. The 30s are supposed to be a time for This statistic tells us that 40% of the households in America who are supposed to be laying the foundation the rest of their lives will be built on are basically building on sand that keeps getting washed out from under them!

How did they get there? Were they just irresponsible? What were they thinking? You might be surprised.

Oh, So That's Why College is So Expensive. - Forbes

An entire college degree for less than $10,000 and completed in just 1 year sounds too good to be true to many people. And that's very understandable. Still others suspect that even if it is true, you get what you pay for, so it can't be a very good degree. But is that really the case?

Paul Partridge, co-founder of, has pulled back the curtain on the ever-increasing cost of a "quality education." Strangely enough, it seems to have very little to do with classrooms, learning or preparing for a successful adult life.

Qualifying to Be In the Accelerate University Program

To be accepted into the Accelerate University Program (by which you can complete your fully accredited bachelor's degree most quickly and cost effectively) you must...

Different Students...Different Paths

Each person's life is different from another. This means each person will have different life circumstances that will set parameters on how many test prep hours they are able to accomplish each week. Some clients have been able to focus on their course work and put in 40 hours per week. Others are working study time in after work and on the weekends and are therefore often able to put in only 20 hours per week. While you do have to make test prep a priority to successfully complete your degree, still, whatever time you are able to commit to this is what you've got to work with.

How to "Miss the Boat" in Test Success BootCamp

When you purchase Test Success BootCamp, it is because you want to succeed in this process and pass your test(s), thereby earning college credit faster and cheaper than the traditional route. You also want this experience to be the best it can be and to gain as much from it as possible.

These same things that can cause you to "miss the boat" can also cause you to not be accepted into the Accelerate University program.

Clients over time have proven these key areas to be directly linked to success in the Accelerate University program. They have proven this both by following the advice below to test success and by disregarding it and failing.

If you hit a "bump in the road" this list is a great place to come back to and see where things might have gone off track and then make plans for how to "get back on track" quickly.

Introducing Test Success BootCamp!

It is a great cultural myth that a college degree is only valuable and trustworthy if it requires five or more years of sitting in a classroom and thousands upon thousands of dollars paid. While that is the most commonly traveled road, distance learning is catching on and growing at a rate of 20% per year. Many students have already decided it was worth $185 and one month of their time to find out if they had what it took to save themselves more than $50,000 and four years of their lives! You can join them by signing up for Test Success BootCamp today!

This series of posts will introduce you to Test Success BootCamp--how it works, what it is, what it is not, and how it develops men and women who are able to succeed in life!

What Could Be Better Than A $10,000 Degree Program?

It's that time of year again. Everyone is trying to figure out how to make the pieces fit together. New high school graduates are either preparing to go off to college or are scrambling to figure out what to do because plan A didn't come together as expected. Soon-to-be high school seniors are bracing to make sure they finish well to secure a place at their top pick for the 2013-2014 academic year. And based on some new announcements starting to roll in, high school juniors should be making sure they are ready to launch into some serious dual credit enrollment.

Stories are now beginning to pop up announcing partnerships between high schools, community colleges and four-year universities which will allow students to earn their college degrees for $10,000.

Jim Douglas from WFAA explains:
Under the plan, this fall's juniors who successfully complete 24 semester credit hours of dual credit college courses in their junior and senior years of high school can transition seamlessly into Tarrant County College, and then complete the final two years at UT-Arlington.
It's designed to be one five-year-long pipeline, with students graduating after three years in college. High-performing transfer students would be eligible for a UT-Arlington scholarship of up to $10,000. If students meet all requirements and qualify for the scholarship, costs and fees could be under $10,000, a savings of $25,000.
New partnerships like these seem to be springing up with several schools. Compared to the normal $70K-$150K price tag for a four--and by four we all know it's usually five--year degree, this sounds like a really great deal. Honestly, this is a great step in the right direction. But did you know that you can do even better?

Accelerate University clients who branch off of that traditional pipeline at the beginning of their junior year, frequently find themselves graduating with their entire college degree when they would normally be graduating high school. High school seniors tend to do the same. In fact, high school graduates who choose Accelerate University rather than a traditional brick-and-mortar school often complete their entire college degrees in as little as 9 months--still finishing more than two years earlier than the "high performing" students on this new plan.

And, what about the price tag? Well, from everything that can be seen in the articles reporting these new deals, the $10,000 is just what students can expect to spend as they finish up at the four-year college. It does not appear to include the costs of the community college before that or the dual credit courses before community college. Accelerate University clients, however, can complete their entire degrees for $10,000 or less--from beginning to end including books, fees and tuition.

Yes, it is great to see new plans being crafted which will allow more students to obtain that college degree without getting crushed by student loan debt. It is always encouraging to know that there are people in position who care about those coming behind them. For students who plan to give this new deal a try, the Accelerate University Test Success Kits can guide you through earning 18 college credits much more quickly and inexpensively than dual credit. But if you are serious about taking strategic strides forward by completing your fully accredited bachelor's degree in as little as 9 months for less than $10,000 please be sure to consider all that the Accelerate University program has to offer you!
